Electronic
Recycling
The Household
Hazardous Waste Facility accepts cell phones, computers and as of July
1, 2008, televisions (free of charge) from Lancaster County residents
as part of the Authority's E-cycling program. Residents can also bring
in cell phone accessories and computer-associated items such as monitors,
printers and keyboards. No VCR or DVD players or external speakers are
accepted.
Computers
& Televisions
Each computer and television monitor can contain 5-7 pounds of lead and
other metals that are better recycled than put in a landfill. Residents
can bring their computers and televisions in free of charge; small businesses
are assessed a $5 fee for each computer component (monitor or CPU) or
television after the first 10 units.
NOTE:
Businesses must call the Authority for an appointment.
Cell
Phones
Cell phones are sent to a company for refurbishment and resale.
Those that can’t be resold are recycled.
