LCSWMA Facility Tours
LCSWMA offers group tours, free of charge, to schools, civic organizations and interested businesses. Due to the complexity of these facilities and operations; children must be at least 13 years old. Additionally, all visitors must abide by LCSMWA's Tour Guidelines.

Transfer Station Complex
Participants receive an overview of LCSWMA's Integrated System in the comfort of the Transfer Station's training room. Large windows in the second floor training room provide a safe view of the activities on the tipping floor of the Transfer Station. Afterwards, a guide leads a walking tour of the Transfer Station Complex, including the Household Hazardous Waste Facility. This tour accommodates group sizes between 10 and 25 individuals. Tour length is approximately 45 minutes.
Waste-to-Energy Facility
Participants receive an overview of the Waste-to-Energy process and facility operations. Afterwards, a guide leads a walking tour of the entire facility. This tour accommodates group sizes between 10 and 25 individuals. Tour length is approximately 90 minutes.
Frey Farm Landfill
Participants receive an overview of the operations and renewable energy initiatives at the landfill. Due to the size of the facility, this is a driving-only tour. Groups are required to arrange their own transportation, typically a van, bus or coach. One vehicle per group is allowed, with space for the tour guide. Tour length is approximately 90 minutes.
Renewable Energy Park
Located at the entrance of the Frey Farm Landfill sits the Reiber House Welcome Center and Renewable Energy Park. Groups of 10-12 individuals can bring a boxed lunch to enjoy after their tour of the landfill and learn more about LCSWMA's renewable energy initiatives through an interactive, touch-screen display.
Advance Visitor Registration
At least two days prior to the scheduled tour, the group host is required to supply LCSWMA with a list of visitors' names participating in the tour. This assures, that on the date of the tour, every individual is accounted for in the case of an emergency or evacuation.
Clothing
Visitors are required to wear clothing that is appropriate for an industrial environment. Closed-toed shoes are mandatory. Sandals, flip-flops, thongs, or open toe/open heel shoes are prohibited. Long pants and long sleeve shirts are required for the WTE Facility. For the safety of guests, any individual not dressed appropriately will be asked to not participate in the tour.
Safety Gear
When appropriate, visitors will be asked to wear safety gear which may include a hard hat, safety glasses and/or a safety vest. These items will be supplied by LCSWMA and should be returned at the conclusion of the tour.
Prohibited Items
The following items are prohibited anywhere on LCSWMA property or associated facilities:
Alcohol
Ammunition
Any items prohibited by law
Controlled substances (e.g., illegal drugs and associated paraphernalia)
Dangerous weapons
Explosives
Incendiary devices
Pets/animals (with the exception of guide or assistance dogs)
Future Tour Requests
While LCSWMA offers a successful tour program for members of the public, each tour request is not guaranteed and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. LCSMWA receives a number of tour requests each year and unfortunately not all requests can be accommodated. LCSWMA offers periodic facility Open Houses that are open to the public.

Tours are subject to immediate cancellation any time.
