Tour
Information
The
Authority is happy to provide tours, free of charge, to school* and civic
groups. You may also
request a complimentary educational video in advance of your visit. It
provides an excellent introduction to the Authority's facilities, and
explains how they are integrated. The video is 12 minutes in length,
and is appropriate for ages ten and older. If you are unable
to take a tour, but are interested in how the Authority manages the County's
waste, we will be happy to send you the video, free of charge. To
request a video, please contact Barbara Baker at 397-9968 or email bbaker@lcswma.org.
*Due
to the overall complexity of these facilities, we ask that school-age
children be in grades 7 and higher.

Transfer
Station Complex
Participants
are provided an overview of the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management
Authority's integrated solid waste management system in the comfort of
the Transfer Station's training room. Large windows in the second floor
training room provide a safe view of the activities on the tipping floor
of the Transfer Station.
This
overview and tour typically takes 3/4 hour.
Resource
Recovery Facility
For the safety of tour participants, no open-toed shoes
or shorts are allowed on this tour; you will be provided with a helmet
and safety vest. Additionally, we appreciate your efforts to keep the
groups between 10 and 30 people.
This
tour typically takes 1 hour.
Frey
Farm Landfill
Due to the size of the facility, this is a driving tour
only. You are requested to provide your own vehicle, leaving space for
the tour-host. This vehicle is typically a van, school bus, or coach.
This
tour typically takes 1/2 hour.
