June 28, 2019
Effective July 1, 2019, the disposal rate for single stream recycling delivered to LCSWMA facilities will increase from $50/ton to $60/ton. The rate change is a result of increasing costs that Penn Waste charges LCSWMA due to declining markets, and the cost burden must be shared by those who use recycling services. It remains LCSWMA’s goal to provide an outlet for this material and charge a rate reflective of the cost to process recyclables for the market.
Beyond this processing fee, LCSWMA is absorbing substantial costs associated with the recycling crisis, including the costs to manage the material at the Transfer Station and provide education to the public to decrease contamination in the recycling stream.
You may download and share this flyer with customers and residents, which has been created to help explain the fee increase and how the recycling process works.
If you have any questions about the rate increase, you can contact (717) 397-9968 and ask for a member of our recycling team.
